Who knew that a barista job in a small California desert town over 20 years ago would actually be some pretty heavy foreshadowing? Certainly not me. I was just having fun. But thought that I needed to do the typical millennial thing and work work work, climb that corporate ladder blah blah blah. I did. And I got burnt out.

Fast forward to 2022. I just moved to Washington state and married an absolutely incredible woman. I was in the public sector…still burnt out. So I left and went back to coffee at a small local shop. *queue the angelic music* - Ok, maybe that’s a little dramatic. But man, I felt a renewed energy and life inside me. I wasn’t making much money but I didn’t care, it felt right.

After a while I got this wild idea to create my own thing and here we are today.

So, why “Deadbolt?” Music has and always will be a huge part of my life. I grew up going to shows in CA and my wife and I bonded on our same musical taste. It’s important to us. One of my favorite bands, Thrice, has a song called “Deadbolt” which was the first song I heard of theirs and it’s what hooked me in. It was also a big gateway into so much other incredible music.

Well, here we are. I’m rambling and not drinking coffee…are you?
